PPAC-119 5km Road Race

Another cooler race as we head into winter, but again experiencing some high humidity levels during this very rainy period. Great effort from all the participants, with finish times ranging from 19 to 30 minutes.

This week Jack set a target pace of 20 minutes and led a group of runners to some exciting finishes and excellent times with four achieving the target and a few just missing out! Note - any runners interested in pacing to different target times in future events (20, 25, 30 minutes etc.) let us know if you would like a pacer, or would like to set the pace yourselves.

The race report and full results are below, and you can find our upcoming 5km race schedule at the bottom of the page (see you next on 5 November).

Results
Hugo, Muyngim and Erwan were the category leaders this week. Impressively, seven runners with previously recorded times set personal bests (PB), improving their previous times from the tiniest to very wide margins
(0.5s – 6:07).

We were pleased to see regular runners continue to improve, with some long-standing records falling and newer runners continuing to make great strides. Of note, in the female senior category, a new club record of 20:22 was set by Muyngim ENG, shaving 17.4 seconds off the previous standard, set previously by herself earlier this year - well done on some great running!

Analysis and Consistency
We had one excellent sub-1.00 rated pacing performance this week from Jeremy and six runners with great ratings of under 1.5! The Pacing Consistency rating is an algorithm designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the race. Ratings under 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for overall optimum performance.

Volunteers & Supporters
A special thanks as always to our volunteer officials and helpers on the morning - Seavleang, Kimkheang, Blandine, Sophorn, Meyjou and Jack!

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the runners and supporters who made this running event a success. Phnom Penh Athletics Club is a community-oriented club with the vision of contributing to the development of grassroots athletics and sport in general in Cambodia. We welcome runners (and non-runners) of all levels to get involved and we appreciate your feedback. We look forward to seeing you all next time!
