Race Report
A stellar performance from Terence was the
highlight of the event, as he continues a meteoric rise in Cambodia's
athletics scene. His club-record time of 16:04.68 was achieved with
masterful pacing and provides other athletes a great template for quality
racing and a source of inspiration!
On the women's side we saw Muyngim racing strongly to take yet
another 1st place alongside Chanthy (2nd), also no stranger to a PPAC
event podium, but it was newcomer Sokkeng who provided an impressive
3rd place in her debut showing!
Viphup was the youth category leader, with another strong performance
from the promising athlete while Sophal and Tes showed us the value of consistent pacing. Both
athletes gave up significant leads to other runners early in the race, but
remained confident in their ability to gradually make back the time back
and, in the case of the former, secure a 1:36 PB!
Special mention to Rain and Somaly who secured
huge PBs improving by 2:32 and 3:03 respectively, while others continue to
make hard-earned incremental gains π.
Three runners took part in
their fifth club event, and it was fantastic to have several new runners
join us, as we welcomed Hugo and Adolfo for their first Phnom Penh Athletics
Club race, coming after months of hard work training with the club every
week – some excellent results for their first outing!
We're always pleased to welcome people looking to get fitter through
athletics and running at our weekly training sessions and races.
Wishing all our runners an enjoyable Pchum Ben break, and we'll see you
all back at training this week!
One runner recorded a sub-1.00 rated pacing consistency score in this 5000m and two more scored sub-2.00, indicative of excellent and well paced races, respectively.
The Pacing Consistency score is designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the whole race. The most evenly paced runs with ratings below 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for optimal performance in aerobic running events like the 3, 5 and 10km.
In the table below you can compare your pace across every 1000m split of the race, and along with the pacing consistency rating, see how it all contributes to your overall finish time, as well as an ALL NEW suggested optimal pace that could lead to potential improved times! Volunteers & Supporters
A special thanks as always to our volunteer officials and helpers on the morning - Jack, Craig, Sivmuyleng, Kimkheang and Meyjou as well as to our dedicated weekly training session leaders. It's not always an easy job, but the team try their best every time to ensure the event lives up to the standards expected!
We would like to extend our gratitude to all the runners and supporters who made this running event a success and whose support allows us to continue to organise community athletics activities for all. If you would like to contribute via donation, please find our QR here. Phnom Penh Athletics Club is a community-oriented club with the vision of contributing to the development of grassroots athletics and access to sport for all in Cambodia.
