Our December race set off for a prompt 6:10 am start in cool conditions and an excellent turnout of 33 runners at the start line finishing between 18 and 39 minutes.

This week Andarge led early from the front at sub 3:30 min/km pace before finishing in the fastest 5km time of 2023 and scoring a 20th first place PPAC 5km finish. The top overall performer was Muyngim, with her time of 20:32 scoring 714 points.

The race report and full results are below, and see you soon with our 2024 schedule!

Results
Andarge, Muyngim, Samnang and Lorry were the category leaders this week. Eleven runners with previously recorded times set personal bests (PB), improving on previous times by a wide range of margins between 10.0s and 6:44
. Four runners finished comfortably below 30 minutes for their first time in a PPAC 5km race, all improving their previous best times by more than 3 minutes.

We were pleased to see regular runners continue to improve, with consistent performances and PBs across all levels of performance.

Analysis and Consistency
We had six sub-1.00 rated pacing performances this week, including the top pacing rating of the year (and top-3 all time) of 0.05 for Sharon Lui, and 21/32 finishers scoring under 10. The Pacing Consistency rating is designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the race. Ratings under 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for optimum performance.
Several runners hit club milestones with Ma Mon taking part in her 25th event and Muyngim and Sanket both participating for the 20th time - well done!

Volunteers & Supporters
A special thanks as always to our volunteer officials and helpers on the morning - Seavleang, Kimkheang, Neil and Jack, as well as Andarge & Addis Ethiopian Restaurant for putting on a first ever post-run Ethiopian breakfast & coffee for us!

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the runners and supporters who made this running event a success.

Results Craig (1st male) led from the start, putting several seconds into the chase pack on the first lap and only extending his lead from there. Running alone did not seem to affect his plan as he ran away to a new PB and a comfortable victory. Things were a little closer in the chase pack with Hugo , Mathieu and Yohann working together to push each other and keep the race honest. Eventually, it would be the experienced Mathieu who was able to...

Results Adam provided the pacing duties for the sub-20 group and it looked promising early with a strong pack including Paul, Andarge, Tom, Hugo and Vincent sticking with him for much of the race. Eventually two athletes were able to break the elusive 20-minute barrier, while several others strode ever closer to that impressive mark. We love to see athletes pushing boundaries and attempting challenging goals, so there is never any shame in falling short of a target. Eventual first place finisher Paul was more than happy to let the lead pack go during the opening Park Lap, confident in his ability to reel them in as the race unfo...
