PPAC-123 5km Road Race [14 January 2024]

Our first race of 2024 set off for a prompt 6:15 am start in perfect running conditions with 23 runners finishing between 20 and 37 minutes.

Results
Muyngim, Bunheng and Markus were the category leaders this week and this was our first ever 5km race with a female overall 1st place finisher! There was also a unique club-first achievement in which the top 3 points scorers were female runners, plus some big club records in the female V50 and male V60 categories (quicker by 7:32 & 26s respectively).

Six runners with previously recorded times set personal bests (PB), improving on previous times by margins between 28.7s and 4:18 with an average 5.7% improvement, including two runners hitting sub-25 minutes for their first time in a PPAC 5km race.

We were pleased to see regular runners continue to improve, with consistent performances and PBs across all levels of performance. Several runners hit club milestones with Mark and Dickson both taking part in their 20th club event - well done! Runners across the whole field have attended on average 10.5 events.

Analysis and Consistency
We had one sub-1.00 rated pacing performances this week and three sub-2.00. The Pacing Consistency rating is designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the race. Ratings under 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for optimum performance.

PPAC-152 5km Road Race [2 November 2025]

For our November 5km we had 23 athletes taking the start line for what proved to be a fast race in favorable conditions. Cooler weather has made Phnom Penh quite pleasant in the last week, and the athletes on Sunday morning made the most of it. This week we had 10 PPAC members, and 2 athletes from SheRuns participating. The race kicked off at 6:02AM, and instantly took shape, with the finishing order already mostly established by the time the athletes made it through the first checkpoint. Race Report In the men's, Craig (1st) went out with a clear goal and was consistent with his pacing. Leading from the front all race and helping himself to a healthy PB in 18:09. Hugo (2nd) was next in line and added to his run of consecutive sub-20 performances, this time with a PB. Paul (3rd), reliable as ever, rounded out the podium with a sub-20 performance of his own. PPAC-153 5km Road Race [1 March 2026]

Our first 5km race for the year was a great success, with moderate weather conditions that apparently proved to be conducive for personal bests. Race Report Our men's race was led from wire to wire by Hugo , who took another big step shaving a whopping 30s off his PB and claiming another 1st place result. Behind him, the men's chase pack of Styvenn (2nd) Paul (3rd) and Simon (4th) all battled hard and exchanged places to eventually finish within arms reach of one another and all under the 20min barrier. The women's field has been taken by storm after the debut of one of PPACs latest recruits, Dorie . Dorie masterfully executed a negative split pacing strategy. Sitting 42s behind Muyngim after the first Sokha lap, she quietly went to work in the second lap to cut the margin and take the win late.
