PPAC-124 200m Track Meet [28 January 2024]

Ever dreamed of sprinting like lightning? Our first track meet of 2024 offered a chance for young athletes (and seasoned veterans!) to chase their dreams on the track. All athletes opted for the 200m race so proceedings were divided into three heats, two men's and one women's heat, with all track activity done and dusted (and soaked by sprinklers) by 7:30 AM!

Dive into the full race report and full results below to relive the excitement, and lookout for our upcoming schedule – we'll be bringing the heat (both the road and track kind!) all year long. Don't miss out!

Overall Results

It was fantastic to see many athletes racing 200m on the track for the first time. Racing on the track can seem daunting but just trying it out is a great way to learn about the challenge and what it takes to run a good race.

The standout performance of the morning was from Sokun whose 28.33s finish also boasted a 13.41s second 100m split.

Several athletes showed stronger pace over the second portion of the race – an indication of good natural speed and endurance and a pointer to potential improvements achievable through improved start technique and the power and quickness that could be developed with good quality training. Well done to Lorry who bettered her existing PB by just over 1.5s and is now just one race away from a landmark 15th event!

The overall results table shows the combined results from the three heats ordered by finish time. The PPAC points calculation in the penultimate column of the table uses a statistical algorithm that lets us compare performances like-for-like across different race distances and across male and female results.

PPAC-151 5km Road Race [7 September 2025]

Our September PPAC 5K was well attended, with many new faces and regular attendees showing up to test out their fitness. 23 athletes lined up to start the race including 9 Phnom Penh Athletics Club members, and 9 first timers! The race began at 6:03am in good running conditions with a slight breeze. This week we were glad to offer pacing for some of the popular time goals. Thanks to Hugo (Sub-20min pacer), Styvenn (Sub-22min pacer) and Jack (Sub-24min pacer) for their contributions. If you are interested in hitting a specific time goal at our next 5K race, let us know and we'll do our best to find a pacer if we can! In the men's race we saw Terence get out fast, showing his unmatched speed and helping himself to an all-time road course record of 16:24. The previous record of 16:42 was set almost five years ago by Pheara Vann, so it was exciting to see the record finally fall. Terence's running is a source of inspiration for many of our athletes, ...

PPAC-149 5km Road Race [6 July 2025]

For our July 5K we were pleased to welcome several new participants for their first event with Phnom Penh Athletics Club , including athletes from Sachkam  Running Club. The race report and full results are below. Please stay tuned to our regular channels for our next race announcements. Results This Sunday PPAC was back for another terrific 5K race at Sokha. In an attempt to beat the morning sun, the race started at 5:49 AM with 18 speedy runners taking the line. For this race, we were fortunate to have some PPAC members offer themselves for pacing duties; Jess (Sub-30), Mark (Sub-25) and Hugo (Sub-20). Their pacing had an obvious impact, with strong pace packs forming during the race and a number of people reaching their goals thanks to the pacing. At the front of the race, Hugo led a pack of six runners through the Park Lap running at sub-20 minute pace. The group gradually lost a few, but Paul (1st p...

PPAC-152 5km Road Race [2 November 2025]

For our November 5km we had 23 athletes taking the start line for what proved to be a fast race in favorable conditions. Cooler weather has made Phnom Penh quite pleasant in the last week, and the athletes on Sunday morning made the most of it. This week we had 10 PPAC members, and 2 athletes from SheRuns participating. The race kicked off at 6:02AM, and instantly took shape, with the finishing order already mostly established by the time the athletes made it through the first checkpoint. Race Report In the men's, Craig (1st) went out with a clear goal and was consistent with his pacing. Leading from the front all race and helping himself to a healthy PB in 18:09. Hugo (2nd) was next in line and added to his run of consecutive sub-20 performances, this time with a PB. Paul (3rd), reliable as ever, rounded out the podium with a sub-20 performance of his own. We then saw a flurry of men coming through between 22 and 23 mins with Guillaum...
