Results
Hugo and first timer Matthew set the pace at the front of the field, crossing the line together for the Park lap at just below sub-4:00/km pace, with Mathieu just behind. Hugo edged ahead on the first Sokha lap and maintained a small lead all the way to the end, with both athletes comfortably securing sub-20 minute finishes. Well done to all finishers for completing the 5km well under 30 minutes!

Despite no PBs for athletes with previously recorded times, there were a couple of milestones – bravo to Jeremy who took part in his 30th event with the club 👏👏. Mark and Tia are now just one event shy of their next milestones on 29 and 9 events respectively... Today's field boasted an average of 18 all-time club events per runner (of course not counting all the efforts of the fantastic organising team!)

Pacing Analysis & Consistency
There were three top rated sub-1.00 pacing performances from Hugo, Tia and Matthew and four of the finishers secured strong negative splits on the second Sokha Lap.

The table below shows split times and average pace per km for each section of the race. The Pacing Consistency rating is designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the whole race. Ratings below 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for optimal performance in highly aerobic running events like the 5km and beyond.

PPAC-147 5km Road Race [4 May 2025]

For our May 5K we were pleased to welcome several new participants for their first event with Phnom Penh Athletics Club , including 7 visiting athletes from SheRuns Club. Developing inter-club competition is one of our priorities, so this week's race was a great step forward for club-level athletics in Cambodia. The race report and full results are below. Our next race will be a track meet on 01 June. Please stay tuned to our regular channels for a race announcement. Results Craig (1st male) led from the start, putting several seconds into the chase pack on the first lap and only extending his lead from there. Running alone did not seem to affect his plan as he ran away to a new PB and a comfortable victory. Things were a little closer in the chase pack with Hugo , Mathieu and Yohann working together to push each other and keep the race honest. Eventually, it would be the experienced Mathieu who was able to...

PPAC-149 5km Road Race [6 July 2025]

For our July 5K we were pleased to welcome several new participants for their first event with Phnom Penh Athletics Club , including athletes from Sachkam  Running Club. The race report and full results are below. Please stay tuned to our regular channels for our next race announcements. Results This Sunday PPAC was back for another terrific 5K race at Sokha. In an attempt to beat the morning sun, the race started at 5:49 AM with 18 speedy runners taking the line. For this race, we were fortunate to have some PPAC members offer themselves for pacing duties; Jess (Sub-30), Mark (Sub-25) and Hugo (Sub-20). Their pacing had an obvious impact, with strong pace packs forming during the race and a number of people reaching their goals thanks to the pacing. At the front of the race, Hugo led a pack of six runners through the Park Lap running at sub-20 minute pace. The group gradually lost a few, but Paul (1st p...

PPAC-151 5km Road Race [7 September 2025]

Our September PPAC 5K was well attended, with many new faces and regular attendees showing up to test out their fitness. 23 athletes lined up to start the race including 9 Phnom Penh Athletics Club members, and 9 first timers! The race began at 6:03am in good running conditions with a slight breeze. This week we were glad to offer pacing for some of the popular time goals. Thanks to Hugo (Sub-20min pacer), Styvenn (Sub-22min pacer) and Jack (Sub-24min pacer) for their contributions. If you are interested in hitting a specific time goal at our next 5K race, let us know and we'll do our best to find a pacer if we can! In the men's race we saw Terence get out fast, showing his unmatched speed and helping himself to an all-time road course record of 16:24. The previous record of 16:42 was set almost five years ago by Pheara Vann, so it was exciting to see the record finally fall. Terence's running is a source of inspiration for many of our athletes, ...
