Our first 5km Road Race of 2025 set off at 6AM sharp with the club returning to the classic Sokha course. Athletes were welcomed with overcast conditions and a slight breeze and posted some excellent performances.

The race report and full results are below. See you soon for more fun training sessions and athletics events and stay tuned for our exciting 2025 program of activities!

Results
Hugo and first timer Matthew set the pace at the front of the field, crossing the line together for the Park lap at just below sub-4:00/km pace, with Mathieu just behind. Hugo edged ahead on the first Sokha lap and maintained a small lead all the way to the end, with both athletes comfortably securing sub-20 minute finishes. Well done to all finishers for completing the 5km well under 30 minutes!

Despite no PBs for athletes with previously recorded times, there were a couple of milestones – bravo to Jeremy who took part in his 30th event with the club and Mathieu who completed his 15th 👏👏. Mark and Tia are now just one event shy of their next milestones on 29 and 9 events respectively... Today's field boasted an average of 18 all-time club events per runner (of course not counting all the efforts of the fantastic organising team!)

Pacing Analysis & Consistency
There were three top rated sub-1.00 pacing performances from Hugo, Tia and Matthew and four of the finishers secured strong negative splits on the second Sokha Lap.

The table below shows split times and average pace per km for each section of the race. The Pacing Consistency rating is designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the whole race. Ratings below 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for optimal performance in highly aerobic running events like the 5km and beyond.
