Results
This Sunday PPAC was back for another terrific 5K race at Sokha. In an attempt to beat the morning sun, the race started at 5:49 AM with 18 speedy runners taking the line.

For this race, we were fortunate to have some PPAC members offer themselves for pacing duties; Jess (Sub-30), Mark (Sub-25) and Hugo (Sub-20). Their pacing had an obvious impact, with strong pace packs forming during the race and a number of people reaching their goals thanks to the pacing.

At the front of the race, Hugo led a pack of six runners through the Park Lap running at sub-20 minute pace. The group gradually lost a few, but Paul (1st place) and Styvenn (2nd place) were able to keep up the pace and get to the finish under 20 minutes. Tom (4th) held on to the pack for most of the way but finished just over the 20 minute mark. We're confident we will see him reaching that target soon!

In the mid-pack, we saw Jacques (6th) finishing in 21:41, yet another top-10 performance for the champion V60 athlete, who was attending his final PPAC event. We wish Jacques safe travels in his next adventure.

Our sub-25 minute pace group led by Mark and including Adolfo and Bill were apparently enjoying themselves out on the course and decided to push for sub-24 instead! The three runners worked together beautifully and helped themselves to some solid, consistent performances and PBs for the latter pair.

The women's race was quite spread out, with Anne-Laure (1st) comfortably leading from wire-to-wire. Anne-Laure says she was hoping to beat her time from last month's race, but wasn't able to find the extra gear. We will need to challenge the other PPAC women to show up in force next month to push Anne-Laure a little further! The women's podium was rounded out by Jess (2nd, and sub-30min pacer) and newcomer Bea!

We were also pleased to welcome visiting runners from Sachkam running club, Lyhour and Chanvisith. We are always thrilled to host other clubs and hope to encourage more inter-club competition in the future!

Pacing Analysis & Consistency
The table below shows split times and average pace per km for each section of the race. The Pacing Consistency rating is designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the whole race. Generally speaking, consistent, evenly paced efforts are the best way to achieve your fastest possible time.
Ratings under 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for optimal performance in highly aerobic running events such as the 5km and beyond.

There were four top rated sub-1.00 pacing performances from Styvenn, Jessica, Adolfo and Paul and many best lap performances for the Sokha Lap.

Results Craig (1st male) led from the start, putting several seconds into the chase pack on the first lap and only extending his lead from there. Running alone did not seem to affect his plan as he ran away to a new PB and a comfortable victory. Results Adam provided the pacing duties for the sub-20 group and it looked promising early with a strong pack including Paul, Andarge, Tom, Hugo and Vincent sticking with him for much of the race. Eventually two athletes were able to break the elusive 20-minute barrier, while several others strode ever closer to that impressive mark. We love to see athletes pushing boundaries and attempting challenging goals, so there is never any shame in falling short of a target. Eventual first place finisher Paul was more than happy to let the lead pack go during the opening Park Lap, confident in his ability to reel them in as the race unfo...
