PPAC-135 5km Road Race [21 July 2024]

PPAC's July 5km took place on a brand new road course near Boeung Trabek! Runners were treated to optimal conditions, as the weather stayed cool with a slight breeze and the new course offered long, straight sections of fresh bitumen.

The race report and full results are below. See you soon for more fun training sessions and athletics events including our next 5km race soon!

Results
18 runners started the race at 5:59 AM and some tight battles formed almost instantly. In the Men's category, Vantha took the lead early in the race, with Hugo, in his 30th event, sticking close behind. While Vantha managed to lead at all of the checkpoints, it was Hugo who eventually ran home as the winner, snatching the lead in the final straight with a calculated kick.

Andarge, 3rd place, continues to tempt us with his return to form. A slower start but his fierce negative split could be an ominous sign of faster things to come. Mintu Kumar impressed in his debut PPAC showing. A highly consistent, point-scoring performance in your first race is no mean feat!

In the women's field the battle was between Meyjou and Lison. Less than 2 seconds separated them at the 2km split, but it was Lison who eventually made a decisive move in the second half to run away with the win. Meyjou continued to toil hard to take a commendable 2nd place. Rounding out the women's podium was Anneliese in 3rd place with a new PB! Another great result after taking 3rd place at last month's 5K as well!

We also congratulate runners Sonissay and Sothon, for their 3km finishes. As well as Theab and Novib for partial completion of the 5km. Every runner is welcome and we look forward to seeing you continue your running journey and hope to see you at the finish line again soon!

Full Results (detailed)
Overall three runners with previously recorded 5km times set personal bests (PB), improving on their previous times by margins between 31 and 59s! In addition five runners improved their best points scores, with two runners breaking the 500-point barrier for the first time and one breaking the 300-point mark 👏👏.

Pacing Analysis & Consistency

The table below shows split times and average pace per km for each section of the race. The first two sections are 1km and the last two sections are both 1.5km. The Pacing Consistency rating is designed to give runners an idea of how well they have balanced their efforts across the whole race. Ratings below 1.00 indicate excellent pacing, and the lower the number, the better, in general, for optimal performance in aerobic running events like the 5km

PPAC-151 5km Road Race [7 September 2025]

Our September PPAC 5K was well attended, with many new faces and regular attendees showing up to test out their fitness. 23 athletes lined up to start the race including 9 Phnom Penh Athletics Club members, and 9 first timers! The race began at 6:03am in good running conditions with a slight breeze. This week we were glad to offer pacing for some of the popular time goals. Thanks to Hugo (Sub-20min pacer), Styvenn (Sub-22min pacer) and Jack (Sub-24min pacer) for their contributions. If you are interested in hitting a specific time goal at our next 5K race, let us know and we'll do our best to find a pacer if we can! In the men's race we saw Terence get out fast, showing his unmatched speed and helping himself to an all-time road course record of 16:24. The previous record of 16:42 was set almost five years ago by Pheara Vann, so it was exciting to see the record finally fall. Terence's running is a source of inspiration for many of our athletes, ...

The race report and full results are below. Please stay tuned to our regular channels for our next race announcements. Results This Sunday PPAC was back for another terrific 5K race at Sokha. In an attempt to beat the morning sun, the race started at 5:49 AM with 18 speedy runners taking the line. For this race, we were fortunate to have some PPAC members offer themselves for pacing duties; Jess (Sub-30), Mark (Sub-25) and Hugo (Sub-20). Their pacing had an obvious impact, with strong pace packs forming during the race and a number of people reaching their goals thanks to the pacing. At the front of the race, Hugo led a pack of six runners through the Park Lap running at sub-20 minute pace. The group gradually lost a few, but Paul (1st p...

This week we had 10 PPAC members, and 2 athletes from SheRuns participating. The race kicked off at 6:02AM, and instantly took shape, with the finishing order already mostly established by the time the athletes made it through the first checkpoint. Race Report In the men's, Craig (1st) went out with a clear goal and was consistent with his pacing. Leading from the front all race and helping himself to a healthy PB in 18:09. Hugo (2nd) was next in line and added to his run of consecutive sub-20 performances, this time with a PB. Paul (3rd), reliable as ever, rounded out the podium with a sub-20 performance of his own.
